Fluctuation and Dissipation in Classical Many-Particle Systems

چکیده

Coarse-grained Langevin-type effective field equations are derived for classical systems of particles. These equations include the effects of thermal fluctuation and dissipation which may arise from coupling to an external bath, as in the Brownian motion of a single particle, or which may arise from statistical fluctuations in small parts of an isolated many-particle system, as in sound waves. These equations may provide some guidance for the analysis of mesoscopic or microscopic molecular systems, or for systems of hundreds to thousands of subatomic particles produced in high energy nuclear collisions. Radiative heat transfer: many-body effects

Heat transfer by electromagnetic radiation is one of the common methods of energy transfer between objects. Using the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, we have studied the effect of particle arrangement in the transmission of radiative heat in many-body systems. In order to show the effect of the structure morphology on the collective properties, the radiative heat transfer is studied and the re...

Chaos, Dissipation and Quantal Brownian Motion

— Quantum dissipation, the theory of energy spreading and quantal Brownian motion are considered. In the first part of these lecture-notes we discuss the classical theory of a particle that interacts with chaotic degrees of freedom: • The Sudden and the Adiabatic approximations; • The route to stochastic behavior; • The fluctuation-dissipation relation; • And the application to the ‘piston’ exa...

The fluctuation-dissipation theorem

The linear response theory has given a general proof of the fluctuationdissipation theorem which states that the linear response of a given system to an external perturbation is expressed in terms of fluctuation properties of the system in thermal equilibrium. This theorem may be represented by a stochastic equation describing the fluctuation, which is a generalization of the familiar Langevin ...

Classical and quantum dissipation in non homogeneous environments

We generalize the oscillator model of a particle interacting with a thermal reservoir by introducing arbitrary nonlinear couplings in the particle coordinates. The equilibrium positions of the heat bath oscillators are promoted to space-time functions, which are shown to represent a modulation of the internal noise by the external forces. The model thus provides a description of classical and q...

Fluctuation dissipation relations in stationary states of interacting Brownian particles under shear.

The fluctuation dissipation theorem is studied close to the glass transition in colloidal suspensions under steady shear. Shear breaks detailed balance in the many-particle Smoluchowski equation and gives response functions in the stationary state which are smaller at long times than estimated from the equilibrium fluctuation dissipation theorem. During the final shear-driven decay, an asymptot...
